Pond Skimming at King Pine

I can't believe how much the kids have skied this year.  Today was the last day of King Pine and the weather wasn't so great.  It rained most of the day.  And since the kids were tired from skiing in Vermont on Saturday they only did a half day today.  Which was the pond skimming that they wanted to try.  Arron even went snowboarding with them since they had an extra ticket left that needed to be used.

The guys working on filling the pond.  It was filled with river water.  Which means it was cold.
Arron hasn't been on a snowboard in about 15 years.
And their off for the chairlift
                                          Of course he fell
But he got right back up and he did great
The picture of the top of the starting line
A picture of the whole hill
Another shot of all three they were watching the guys finish up with the hill
Of course Zack is going to try it. And he's off!
                                           Going Down!!!
I love this picture of him in the air
                                          And SPLASH!!!!
                                          He was cold and wet
                                          Now Madison 's turn.
By camera blacked out after the last shot so I didn't get any of her hitting the water.  Or getting out.  Only this one on the way inside to get dry clothes on.
They both left Dad with their ski gear. And he's still watching the remaining skiers.

Goose Eggs

Zack's geese have been laying eggs like crazy for the last few weeks.  He tried hatching about 12 of them.  There great for cooking with. If I just was home long enough to bake with them.

                                              15  eggs
All 3 are goose eggs but each one is from a different breed that he has.
The one of the left is African and the one in the middle is a Toulse and the last one is a White Embrem

First Day of Burning Sap

The maple syrup is off to a very slow start this year. But Zack managed to get about 12 gallons of sap that needed to be burned so he and Madison started it today.

Hoof Trimming Time

So Cookies and Cream were do for a hoof trim. So Zack and Arron set to work on this project.

The only way they could get Cookie's to stay still was for Arron to feed her grain.
                                          Now she watching Zack
Cream is a Mama's boy. He doesn't do well when he's away from her.
Now Madison is waiting with Cookies while Cream has his nails down.  She had some help from the geese.
Once Cream got on the sunporch he wasn't so sure about getting his hoof's done. He like to climb all over my wood.
But eventually Zack got a hold of him and he too had his hoof's trimmed

Sea Perch

Today the kids finished up work on their sea perch bodies.

Of course these two are hard at work
The directions were on the wall for those following them
Zack putting on a new piece of PVC pipe
                                           Madison waiting for her turn
Now her turn to do some of the wiring
Zack holding the PVC pipe for Joey
Zack putting the finishing touches on
                                          And it works!!!
Madison still working on her wiring

Goose Hatching 101

When Zack went to take care of the geese this morning.  He found a nest of 10 eggs. One was cracked so he took the remaining 9 eggs and took Mama Goose to the sunporch.
His nest of 9 remaining eggs
Marking the eggs so he can tell if she laid any more
                                          Mama goose with her nest
For the first two days she was happy on the porch but after that she gave up sitting on her nest.
So Zack decided to set up A.J's incubator with A.J's help and try and hatch the eggs for a 4-H project
While he waited for the incubator to warm up to temperature he looked up the information he needed and marked his calendar.
                                          First egg going in
Marking a few new eggs he got that day
And most of them are in.
